I currently have Imail with Webshiled for SMTP running together on one box
and have another box just running Webshield for SMTP as a backup if the
main
server goes down to store and forward.
I would like to put assp on the box with the Webshield for SMTP however I
think I will need to have Imail on this box also.
Why do you think this? For ASSP or for some other reason, like as a
complete backup to your mailserver?
Would there be a problem
installing Imail on this box and just using it to forward?
IPSwitch will be happy to sell you another copy of Imail I'm sure. :o) If
is not to be used, except as a backup, it may be permissable to use the same
license as your production box. This you will have to take up with
IPSwitch.
I don't mean to be a smartass(yes I do), but you didn't give us enough info
to go on to really answer your questions unless you want us to assume a few
things.
Lets assume that both boxes are in your existing mailstream and that you
just want to put ASSP into the mix to help with spam. If this is so, you do
not need another copy of Imail and ASSP will simply slot in front of your
Webshield for SMTP. There will be some configuration issues but those are
not Imail related and need to be discussed on the ASSP mailing list if you
need help with them.
If you have any questions about getting started with ASSP you can email me
directly (check the headers for my address) and I will do my best to point
you in the right direction.
