Hi Julie-

I think the big clue is "local dynamic" in the error message.

SBC / ATT thinks you have a lot of domains at your IP. Guess why?

It might have to do with the following nslookup result:

set q=ptr
68.208.144.9
Server: smtu.mt.rs.els-gms.att.net
Address: 12.127.16.68

You might want to delete all the PTR records except for your web and mail servers, and change the HELO string from esavannah.net to mail.esavannah.net.

That might just help a whole lot.

Also, fix up the problems reported by DNSStuff. In particular, make your DNS servers non-recursive. This means you have to (a) point all your internal machines to the upstream DNS resolvers SBC gave you when you signed up for the service (maybe 12.127.16.68 and 12.180.17.72 ? ) or (b) point all your internal machines to your router or firewall or primary A/D server and point that device in turn to those resolvers. Your IMail server should also have these resolvers set in its network settings, the DNS server service enabled, and IMail should be pointed to 127.0.0.1.

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Dynamic IP rejections

I have customers getting dynamic IP rejections from multiple places.
Our IP does not change and is not dynamic. We host over 150 virtual mail servers on this one IP. It appears to be a new test or rejection I am not seen. I'm having difficulty reaching anyone on the other sides to find out what exactly is happening. Has anyone else experienced this issue before? Any recommendations?

We're not on any blacklists that I can find. From time to time we have trouble sending to Yahoo. Every month or every other month we have go through the form process to gain access again, but that's become one of the issues I expect to see from Yahoo. This issue is new.

Here's an example of the error:
Unexpected connection response from server:
421 mails from 68.208.144.9 refused: local dynamic IP address 68.208.144.9
I'm considering this to be a possible DNS issue, but still not sure why.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Julie Harris
