Thanks for your reply, but my question then would be: Why did the patch set up 
the application pool with 8 processes if switching processes will cause session 
info loss?
I had tested web garden multiple processes before and found that there were 
issues with authentication, and set it back to 1 process.  It was set at one 
process before the patch, and after the patch the IClient was moved to a new 
application pool and had 8 processes.  Is there any way to use more than the 
one process and keep the session info?

to answer your question, the web client store session information in process. 
Web gardens run each instance in a separate process. 
When you switch processes the session info is lost.
