We experienced a similar problem with the older CGI based versions of IMail, I believe 8.22 was still CGI, if not, disregard this.
All our users use proxies for web access. If a user closed the browser without logging out first the proxy held the session open. The next user comes in via the proxy and intermittently gets the open session, Imail was thinking this is the same user because they were coming in via the proxy address. In my testing, I logged into 10 accounts and closed the browser (no logout). I opened another browser and simply pressed enter and got one users session, went back to the login screen pressed enter again and got another users session. This was pretty consistent with me getting another users session most times. Prior to this testing we were getting random reports of people logging in and getting another account for some time and could not duplicate right away. Mostly because I'm a state employee and a state network and the Imail server is on the K12 network (different proxies). Once I got on the K12 network and really tested we discovered this. This was fixed when Imail ported to IIS and active server pages. Again, not sure if 8.22 was CGI based, but if so, we experienced the same issue. I do not manage our proxies, but the persistent connects settings was turned off and on and other settings tweaked without success. James W.
