Hello all,
Real simple situation I believe, I just want some reassurance that my
plan is going to work.
Situation:
Need to move existing IMail 6.0 Server and users to another server.
Plan:
DNS TTL will be lowered so to force a refresh every 10 minutes when I
begin this process. MX record changes will be made so the new server is
secondary. Install Imail on the new server. Since I do not have that
many users (less than 50 currently) I will manually add the users to the
new system. Once the configuration of IMail is complete, I will shut
off the services on the old system and copy the user directories in the
IMail\Users folder to the new server. After the copy of user
directories is complete I will start the services on the new server.
DNS will be changed so the new server is set to be primary in the MX
record. This will move all users mail (old and new) to the new server
and DNS will take care of the rest, right? At least that is my hope.
Any and all suggestions or comments welcome. Feel free to e-mail
directly if you so desire.
Thanks and have a great day!
Kevin
