It sounds like at 14:41, the SMTP server tried to connect to the gateway (222.222.222.222).  However, you weren't connected to the Internet, so it wasn't able to connect.  After a certain number of retrys, it gave up.
 
The gateway option is designed for a full-time Internet connection; you enter the gateway and it is assumed that you will be able to connect.  Since you aren't going to be connected all the time, you should increase the number of retrys.  The log will still show all the fails, but if the retrys are high enough, it should "catch" one of the times that you are connected.
