Maybe there is no 'connection' between the internal network and the dialup
network? Check you TCPIP and DialUp settings. Seem to remember one tab about
'routing'.

It sounds like at 14:41, the SMTP server tried to connect to the gateway
(222.222.222.222). However, you weren't connected to the Internet, so it
wasn't able to connect. After a certain number of retrys, it gave up.

The gateway option is designed for a full-time Internet connection; you
enter the gateway and it is assumed that you will be able to connect. Since
you aren't going to be connected all the time, you should increase the
number of retrys. The log will still show all the fails, but if the retrys
are high enough, it should "catch" one of the times that you are connected.
