Rob,
I don't think the SMTP stopped working, as th eerror message indicates th
problem is connecting to it. I'd look for a DNS problem. If they use the IP
for the server, and that always works, then it is DNS. That they 'get' new
mail says the SMTP is receiving email and putting into their mailboxes!
