We also use Linux box (Mandrake this time) with IPChains firewalling
techniques. I don't know much about linux personally but I do understand
TCP/IP packet routing etc and one of our linux guys had no problems
convincing me this was a good way to go after having read some white papers
on the subject, especially as we were using WinGate proxy beforehand - Now
there's an ugly solution.

As for the GNat box our client is using, well its one of those commercially
built devices with only the GUI available to it and no room for adding extra
NICS. The client is a Government department which would explain their
reluctance to allow even the slightest exposure of their Exchange server
even to the DMZ.

I've opted for Michael Perdue's solution as it seems easiest to implement,
but can't get access to the GNat box and Exchange server til tomorrow as
it's midnight over here.
