Just because you can ping him, does not mean that he can ping (or connect)
to your computer. He needs to use a tool that can 'ping' (or even telnet or
lookup, etc). Try ping to something closer to his computer (his ISPs
router?) then move closer to your network, then your computer. The problem
is the MAC is not resolving the IP from the name correctly, or someething on
the network is blocking the connection to your server. If he is using POP3,
then try port 110.
