There are currently two ways to do it. You need to have an antivirus program that
listens on the SMTP port.
First, you can have separate machines for antivirus and IMail. Have your MX record
point to the antivirus machine, and have the antivirus machine forward mail to the
IMail machine.
Second, you can have both on the same machine, if your machine can handle the traffic
and you feel comfortable using one machine for both. To do this, you have the MX
record point to this machine, and have the virus scanner listen on port 25. Set up
IMail to listen on a different port (check support.ipswitch.com KnowledgeBase for
details), and have the virus scanner send to IMail on that port.
One warning: WebShield SMTP is a popular antivirus program that listens on the SMTP
port, but be careful setting it up. Some of the defaults are pretty bad. The program
works, but sort of hobbles along.

I'm evaluating imail right now for possible purcahse and understand that
some people run imail along with a virus scanner to scan the mail. Any
suggestions on set up and any tips would be greatly appreciated.
