Basically it depends on how detailed you want to get.  There is a

You can filter as tight as you want to depending on your need and
your ability to take responsibility for throwing the baby out with the
bath water occasionally.

I would not suggest ever putting in a rule that sends to NUL unless you
are 100% positive that you are solving your problem like that.
Usually if you are trying to stop spam it is best to filter it to a box and
then look at what needs to be done to stop it for good.
