try settin DNS up like this.....(DNS and soa records not shown here...)

www    A        yourWebIPaddress  (this sets browsing for
"www.yourname.com")
[blank]  A       yourWebIPaddress   (this sets browsing just "yourname.com")
mail     A    [10] yourMailIPaddress (this sets the host
"mail.yourname.com")
[blank]  MX   mail.yourname.com  (this sets the MX record to point to your
mail server detailed in record above)
