Several postings suggest that sql 7 is not working with imail. Others
suggest that the imail/sql combo is not supported. If it is not supported I
have to say that the imail features page is at least very misleading. it
says and I quote "Draw imail users from any external database tht supports
OBDC (e.g. your Access or SQL-based database, etc.)". That suggests that SQL
should be no problem.

Is this statement just intended mean that you may import users? Is sql 7
the problem whith sql 6.5 and others working fine? Or, is SQL simply not
supported...

Moreover, the features section also states "This makes Imail integration
with your existing customer billing, student enrollment, HR, or other
systems a snap."

The bottom line is that any OBDC compliate database integration is supposed
to be a snap. That's the plain language as they say.

For those of us who need SQL integration do you folks recommend SQL 7.0 or
SQL 6.5. I need to integrate this with one of the two? Or should I move to
Puerto Vallarta and sip margaretas for the rest of my life? What's the
verdict?

After lots of swearing and cussing I managed to get Imail 6 working with SQL
Server 7.

1: get the 3rd party odbcuser.DLL from: http://home.att.net/~niceman/

2: set the dsn to a system rather than file dsn and choose NT authentication
for login.

3: with an external database we have managed to do all our user housekeeping
through ASP and SQL.

4: Save me a deck chair and a Margareta.
