I am currently searching for a new email server for my ISP. My top choice
right now is NTMail because of its easy integration with other applications.
I would pay many thousands (probably around $5000) for a mail server that
took full advantage of a SQL database.
I need a server that can handle hundreds of SQL-based domains (on MS SQL 7)
without crashing. Imail would be an excellent solution if it were stable on
SQL 7 and if it could support more than 10 SQL-based domains. A co-worker
and I are working on hacking sendmail and qpopper to do what we want, but a
commercial product that could do that would sell... Big.

Scott,
You are correct. What about we, the admins, that need to use
SQL and are not C programmers. Sure we can get the 3rd Party
DLL but if anything is not working in IMail and you call tech support
the first thing they say, it must be your setup with SQL and we do
not support it.
The question here is when is IPSwitch gonna get off their asses
and support a very common database server such as SQL. IMail
in my opinion has two problems.
1.) Support for external databases, including keeping aliases
externally.
2.) Listserv.
If IPSwitch would spend some time and make those two things
better, it would be hands down the best product for the money and
I would recommend it highly.
Until then, it still has two "flaws" that hold it back from being one
of the best mailserver packages out there.
Again, this is my opinion, but I think most everyone would agree.
