Imail and WUG don't seem to like some modems very well. I have an old AT&T
branded 14.4 modem in my workstation that I was unable to get to WUG to use
(though qpage on FreeBSD has no problem with it). Like so many other
things, it seems that the pager stuff is something that Ipswitch said "ok,
it works for us, screw everybody else, screw the standards, and never mind
that so many competing products work fine."

I currently have an old 2400baud modem in a box that both Imail and WUG are
happy with.

Just be sure to get with your provider for the correct settings (my provider
runs 2400 8n1, another runs 1200 7e1).

G'luck,

** That's basically where we ended up too... but the problem is, if you need
** your machine to tell you the t1 is down, email won't get to the
** provider -
** it has to go out a regular land line... I'd be interested to hear from

** We danced around with this for quite some time before just
** ordering a SkyTel
** alpha-numeric pager and setting up a local alias to point to
** [EMAIL PROTECTED], works great. If you are
** in Louisiana
** and have BellSouth as your telco, you can also order one from

** even less expensive. For the phone side, either Sprint or AT&T PCS will
** work. Same as above, [EMAIL PROTECTED] is an alias for
