In a past life I installed and administered Checkpoint's Firewall-1. It
is a great product! A little bit on the expensive side but worth it.
As for a diagram on how to implement a firewall, it depends on what your
goals are as to how you want it done. If you do not have the expertise
to do it yourself then you will be much better served to have someone
who does it for a living install and configure the firewall. Your
network will be much safer and easier to manage that way. Not to
mention the amount of time saved.
But that is just my .02 worth.
