MS's www.listbot.com should provide you some basis for what list renting
costs. "Nobody ever got fired for buying MS" vbg Then you have free list
services such as www.egroups.com.

Our planned approach here is that we don't care how many lists, list
members, nor how many msgs are sent. We charge by smtp traffic volume,
same as we do for email hosting. This requires having automatic traffic
volume calculations base on mail log analysis.

Such "metered usage" seems easy to understand since it corresponds to other
infrastructure charges such as electricity or telephone. A nominal setup
fee per emtpy list (the customer fills his own list. If we fill it, it's
chargeable), and a nominal, minimal MRC, monthly recurring charge with some
traffic included.

I doubt whether Imail's basic list functions are really competitive (and,
perhaps more importantly, manageable) vs list hosting services based on
dedicated list servers such as listserv, Lyris, majordomo, qmail MLM, or
Listar. And you need the best possible "email firewall" to keep the list
free of spam.
