SMTP AUTH works fine for virtual mail hosts here, but only after the "6.03
+ SMTP patch" level is installed.

The Ipswitch support staff? I think there has been a misunderstanding
between them and you. SMTP AUTH works fine for virtual, "ip-less" mail hosts.
I have all mail hosts on one ip and all users use SMTP AUTH.
