If it is a web hosting company, there's a good chance they also run SMTP servers, and
one of them could be trying to send you a valid mail.

This means that the other system reset the connection. Normally when sending E-mail,
that would only happen if a timeout was reached (IE if your system is very slow, or if
their SMTP server has a poorly set low timeout value). How far apart are the entries?

Unlikely, if you don't see a lot of other activity from the site.
