scenario 1:
host = mail.domain.com
alias host = domain.com
when you set up a new user, IMail defaultly adds the host name to the user's
ID (i.e.: jdoe = [EMAIL PROTECTED]). This is the address that IMail will
use as the "from" and "reply-to" addresses in the web messaging piece,
unless the user or mail admin changes it.
We have found, for our clients who do not want to use the "mail" as part of
their address, theres a lot less confusion to the client and a lot less
admin on our side to set up as per your 2nd example.
(This of course assumes that you even have a "mail." record in your DNS.)
