Ms. McIntyre,

>help!

ah yes, wait til your house is burning down before goin around to meet
neighbors! vbg

>The problem is, the only way we can get mail forwarding

you mean as in

1. .,[EMAIL PROTECTED] in the users forwarding rule or

2. accept mail from your users to "relay" for remote mail servers??

>to work for our users is to keep the mail relay open.

well, that's wrong, so let's fix it.

>We've tried to set it to "Forward Mail for Local Users Only"

you mean "relay for" and that's bad, too

> but that resulted in no mail being forwarded - it only works with the
> relay open to all. The other option, filtering on
>source, is not practical. Any idea where to start troubleshooting? I sure
>appreciate your help!

1. check relay for addresses, and put in your ip blocks.

2. UNcheck Disable SMTP AUTH

3. in the NT hosts file, add one line

ip.ad.re.ss yourmaindomain.com

That otta do it. If it doesn't, so us the imail\spool\sysMMDD.txt logs
where the mail isn't being relayed under the 1,2,3 setting above.
