Hello all.
Though I have asked this Q before and not received a response....the
question probably did not make sense, so I will try rephrasing it.
I am using an SMTP virus scanner, mounted on an external machine. MX points
to the scanning machine, and therefore scans email then forwards it to my
main mail server. This works well.
The problem: If a user on the IMAIL machine sends an email to another user
on the IMAIL machine, it does not get scanned because since it is local
mail, IMAIL does not query the main DNS, and therefore never gets the
address of the scanner....
SO....is it possible to fool Imail into thinking the mail is not local,
hence IMAIL queries the DNS MX and sends even local mail through the
scanner....
OR....is there some way to force local mail to route through the external
scanner...
OR....am I missing something fundamental in the process.
Ciao,
Dave
