The configuration is set up so the firewall sits between the mail server
and the rest of the world...everything works as normal on the mail
server itself...just on a message's way to it's final destination (local
mail not included) it passes through the firewall and is scanned.

Does this setup allow SMTP AUTH.
I have my mail server setup for closed relay and only users on my ip
space
can email without SMTP Auth setup on there client software.
