Hi all,

I've been using Imail Server since version 4.0 (quite a while) and just
about the only thing that bugs me about the product is that there still is
no provision for spam protection. I'm not talking about filters which
inherently are not interesting because they fail and deliver mail to just
another mailbox you'll need to check periodically. What I'd really need and
what I've been waiting for since the inception of the wheel is an ORBS
implementation in Imail Server.

Why would it be ideal to have imail refuse connections from known open
relays? (that would pretty much cancel out china, I'm aware of that but they
have to learn some day, no?)

1. Your server is not even accepting the connection. Chances are, your email
address will eventually disappear from one or more lists.
2. The sender sees immmediately that their mail didn't get through instead
of having it wait in a mailbox being checked on a monthly basis.
3. The error message tells the other site's admin what's going on (I had my
mail server listed there once).

I was going to try to setup a linux box as smtp gateway with a sendmail
version enabled with ORBS and other blacklist checking, however that turned
out the be rather cumbersome and an easier solution for lazy admins like me
would be much appreciated.

Any ideas, comments?

Cheers
