We've been running for almost 2 years with our software firewall (winproxy
2.1) and have had no problems until this conflict with IMail. Every other
piece of server software we are running lets you specify which IPs to sit
on, and our firewall has been rock-solid.
I'll have to try your suggestion. We have a couple of old P90s about to be
put to pasture. I suppose I could throw Linux on one of them.

Try to convince the powers that be that this way lies madness. We tried
that, and got only grief. If a new box is really not an option, try
used/old. Firewall software doesn't have to run on the latest and
greatest machine. Got anything lying around not doing anything? Look
into Unix-based firewalls if you're really strapped for cash. We had one
running on a 486/50 with acceptable performance for the light user load
we had on it.
