So the ETRN client is successfully sending to Imail.

between what and what? From Imail relaying the received mail to Internet?

>How can I see the results of the connection attempts (succesful or not).

everything is in the log file. When Imail has a msg for the relay
machine, Imail will bang away on the ip for that domain in NT hosts
file. If the relay machine is off-line, Imail logs an 'MX connect
fail', defers the msg for "retry period" and bangs away later.

>If IMAIL cannot connect to their dialin mail server will it bounce
>the mail back to the sender ?

only if Imail cannot deliver for 'SMTP retry attempts' x 'retry
period' to the relayed/ETRN mailserver.

>I suspect the problem is one their end and would like to determine the exact
>problem.

Everything is in the logs. Sit quietly, meditate on the logs, all
will be revealed.
