>You are my best reference for all my problems on Imail.
ciao, Pasquale bello :)))
>I have read from Imail forum that there is the opportunity of installing an

Some have done it.

I don't believe in risking destablizing an SMTP/POP/WEBMAIL server by
putting AV on it, quite apart from the extremely heavy CPU/RAM load
AV puts on mail server. So I'm not your reference here.
>Please point to me all step by step.
Your best reference is the AV software manual, then the others here
in this list who have done it.
The big picture, broad strokes, is maximo simplissimo:
1. DNS MX points to Imail+AV machine. You get mail.
2. AV listens on port 25, AV receives mail, scans it and AV forwards
to port xy, where Imail is listening.
3. You must hack Imail registry so Imail SMTP listens on port xy
rather than port 25.
Finito
Make sure your AV software is set up not to be an open SMTP relay.
I recommend IMGate in front of your IMail + AV box to reject 15% of
50% of the traffic as junkissimo, keeping it out of the heavy
processing of AV. Feeding spam to your AV scanner, this is really
maximo stupidissimo. IMGate also fixes your anti-relay risk that you
can catch with some AV pkgs.
btw, your Mediteranneo amici in Malta, si! si!, have a very nice AV
pkg for NT called "Mail Essentials for SMTP", uses the Norman AV
engine. www.GFIcomms.com.
Also, look at www.declude.com for a mutli-function pkg, if you must
have a one-box solution. It better be a big box, tho', if you have a
lot of traffic.
