John,

I have seen something like this, when using the Web MSG to view the logs.
But an actual log file that has bad data? No, I have not seen one. If you
sent one to support, I'm sure they are looking at it, but it may take a
while to get all the right people to see it, then try to figure out why it
is happening, propose a solution, see if it works, .... So please be
patient, but don't be afraid to remind them (once a day?) if you need.

As I said earlier, I have not used SysLog all that often and your trying it
might offer another 'clue' for the Techs to use. If it works, then you have
better logs and we have a(nother) clue.

I wonder just how busy your hard disk is and the average size of your daily
log files? Is this a large system (lots of users, domains) and what is the
harware running IMail?

Are you seeing any other symptoms, like performance or problems with users
connecting? How about sending large (2-5 M) messages? What is average CPU
utilization? Basically, how is the system working overall and in particular,
when you are using the consol and normal Imail message handling?

Anything that might be keeping the log files being opened and closed as
needed might contribute to the missing data in them.

You might even experiment with the log each service is using. Or if just one
service writing to the log, has any effect (Size I'm sure, but other than
that). Combinations are another possibility.

So I'm saying, I don't know more than the support people at this point and
anything you can do to show us the conditions under which it does or does
not occur, can help me (and them), learn why this is happening (I cannot
duplicate and supsect they cannot, either).
