Jason,
The users client has become unsyncronised with the email on the
server, so it thinks the message is not there. Not sure what client
is in use, but in OE, one can just deleted the user account and
recreate it (assuming mail is left on the server, so local copies
can be deleted) and when it reads the mailbox for the 'first' time
it gets the correct status and message count. Web Messaging does not
save anything at the client side, so it always treats the connection
as 'new' and gets the correct status.
Sounds to me like the user is connecting to the mailbox, more than
once, so an operation is one connection (like deleteing a message),
cannot be completed, because the lock was in effect from the second
connection. The client then 'thinks' it deleted then message, so it
ignores it on subsequent connections.
