That's a good question.
Thet E-mail that showed up as being sent "Fri 7/10/93 6:44PM" is one that
was dated "Wed, 13 Dec 100 00:01:33 EST" (Message-ID:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]). Outlook (or at least some
versions of Outlook) interpret that date as Friday, 07 Jul 2893. So, the
"7/10/93" that you see (and likely assume is 7/10/1993, as I thought at
first glance) is really 2893.
Ultimately, the year 100 just ain't right. Some programs will assume that
it's the year 1900 (just looking at "00" and adding 1900 to it), some 2000
(expecting 2 digits, but getting 3, and adding 1900 to them), some (like
Outlook) will do other types of calculations (perhaps trying to encode the
year 100 in a system that starts at 1600, so it wraps around, producing an
equally odd date).
Web messaging usually sends E-mail in one way, but occasionally for some
unknown reason does it in the "wrong" way. When the E-mail is sent in the
"wrong" way, it produces in the 100 year date.
