We store the User db in an Oracle database.
I scanned the records in the table and I could not see anything that looked
obviosuly different between the account it throws up on and the ones it
doesnt...
The only thing I can remember changing recently was the part of the stored
proc that generates the MAILADDR.
It was originally mail.eeplace.com and I changed it to just eeplace.com and
in IMail under localhost/hostname I changed it to eeplace.com and under the
localhost/mail.eeplace.com the offical hostname is mail.eeplace.com and the
alias is eeplace.com
Anyway if this was related to the problem why is it only affecting the odd
account...

ah! This looks like a suspect worth pursuing ferociously.
And you are therefore using an ODBC database for users?
or is the other account creation app writing into users into Imail's
users registry?
