OK. I think I'm following the rules. But this isn't working.

I'm getting some e-mails that I simply want to respond to with a
generic message no matter which address it's sent to on the domain.
I've created an account called response. Then set up info manager and
created a sub area "mailboxname" and enabled it to for that sub area.

I put for the message;

My Subject
Message Body

I set up a Rule on the mail host (not on a user account) containing
the text I want to search for.

I enter in the "send to the mailbox" box:

response-mailboxname

I've also tried:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Then when I send a test message, I get no response and a new mailbox
gets created in the users account I send the test message to named
response-mailboxname. I presumed the message would be forwarded to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and I would get a mailbox named
mailboxname under the "response" account.

Am I missing something?
