Well, you can just use tape to back up your Imail directory. Also, you need
to back up NT registry settings because Ipswitch keeps its user info there.
Basically, backing up NT registry and Imail directory would suffice,
although I would back up entire server, using tape rotation schedule (like 6
days a week incremental backup and one day a week - full)
Another way to achieve redundancy would be to mirror imail server using
clustering software from Legato or McAfee, or another vendor, or using
clustering resources of W2K advanced server.
For instance, I am using Legato NT Standby server. Whenever my first server
fails, second server assumes identity of the first one, including its IP
address. Failover procedure takes only 20 seconds and then my users have
backup mail server online, mimicking main server, with completely identical
data.
