I know this has been rehashed multiple times, but for my own clarity, can
someone tell me
the optimal settings for the following scenario:
I have 3 servers that have IMail on them.
Server 1 is a mail server only. It has several mail accounts, and is also
the Outbound Mail Gateway.
Server 2 and Server 3 are Virtual Host Servers. Both have many email
accounts on them.
What I want to do is let server 1 do all the sending of mail, but only
accept mail for the accounts on that server, and allow connections from
Server 2 and 3 for the purposes of relaying
outgoing mail. I want Server 2 and 3 to only allow incoming mail for the
accounts on those servers, and only allow those accounts to send mail. In
addition, because some virtual hosts
send mail from their web pages (often using a From address that does not
exist, but does contain their domain name), I would like Server 2 and 3 to
accept any SMTP connections from the server
itself. Perhaps an option to allow SMTP connections/Mail relay from ANYone
within a range of IP addresses.
Lastly, for all the mail accounts, I would like to require User
Authentication for sending mail.
Does this make sense? Any help would be appreciated..
