OK, I think I've screwed up the MX records in my DNS Server, but I can't see
how. The point is that some people can get mail to us and others can't. For
example, I was on this discussion list, and then the mail stopped coming.
The people at Ipswitch tell me that their mail bounces -- meanwhile, I am
getting mailing from other sources.

Here's what we have: the mail server and the primary DNS are -- for better or
worse -- the same box. It's an NT Server 4.0 with SP6a, running Winnt DNS
service and IMail 4.07. The box has multiple IP addresses, so I treat them
as separate servers. That is, when someone asks for the name and IP of the
DNS server, I say:

bcw4.bcwebhost.net 208.8.150.202

When someone asks for our mail server, the answer becomes:

mail.bcwebhost.net 208.8.150.204.

I have a zone created for bcwebhost.net. This zone has the following
records, among others:

mail A 208.8.150.204
mail MX 208.8.150.204
         MX 208.8.150.204
www A 208.8.150.223
          A 208.8.150.223
bcw4 A 208.8.150.202

This is our own domain. Just for further information, if I setup a domain
for someone else, then the mail records typically follow this format:

(zone mycompany.com)
mail MX [0] mail.bcwebhost.net
mail A 208.8.150.204
         MX [0] mail.bcwebhost.net

I've been reading everything I can on the subject, and I can't see what's
wrong with our DNS setup. As I said, I do receive mail all the time. On the
other hand, I know that some people can't get through no matter what. For
example, anyone emailing via yahoo.com or aol.com works, but people using
hotmail mailboxes seem to have trouble getting through. And the worst is
that I can't get Ipswitch mail, including this discussion list.

So if there are any good DNS/MX masters out there, this simple student will
like some enlightenment.

By the way, if you need a test mailbox, my Ipswitch discussion list email was
supposed to go to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
