That is the problem.  They likely have a "mail.nwlink.com" for outgoing, and 
"pop.nwlink.com" for incoming:

That implies that the mail client was connecting to pop.nwlink.com.  It looks like the 
user put in pop.nwlink.com as their outgoing mail server, rather than mail.nwlink.com. 
 So, they are connecting to pop.nwlink.com (which HAS an SMTP server, but not one set 
up to allow relaying), so it sees the address at zerowaste.com (not a local domain on 
their server), and doesn't accept the user name.

So, the fault is with the mail setup of the user trying to send you the E-mail.
