Anyone know what happened to orbs.org? One of our IMail systems was
recently added to it (we recieved an EMail from them stating so),
however the IMail system is NOT an open relay in any way. Upon going to
their site, it says the following:
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, the ORBS website is no longer
available."
I know they've had ongoing issues with the "Spam-police" at
mail-abuse.org. Does anyone here seriously use either of these
services? If so, why? Is it because you don't know how to configure a
good mail filtering system or is there some feature I'm missing?
One of our larger clients (MacroMedia) got blacklisted with
mail-abuse.org because of the way their ListServ worked. They sent them
an EMail saying they'd fix it (to mail-abuses standards, which is bull
to begin with) and the next day not only was their mail server blocked,
but EVERY IP they owned. Mail, Web, EVERYTHING. I couldn't get a damn
file transfer to them completed without rerouting traffic around
Above.net/MailAbuse. Our company will no longer order and Circuits (T1,
T3, OC3, whatever) that has traffic carried over an AboveNet backbone.
Their "policing" is getting WAY too far out of hand.
