[IMail Forum] Adding Virtual Domains / POPs / Aliases by manipulatingRegistry?

I've been looking through the documentation...  does anyone know if we can 
create
virtual domains / POP Accounts / Aliases by manipulating the registry directly?
We're looking to skip the .pl or .exe or .bat scripts that are out there and
do it all in Cold Fusion against the registry itself.  The two problems I 
see are...

1.  How would we encrypt the password to store it in the record for the POP 
accounts,

2.  Do we have to "restart" or "reset" the SMTP and POP services to 
recognize new accounts /
changed accounts in the registry, or is the registry examined each time a 
POP / SMTP transaction occurs?
