The thing is, at any job I had, all the email was monitored.... and if a
person thinks that their email is not monitored by the sys admin, on either
a private, or public system (ISP) is fooling themselves. The thing is, the
system and the service belongs to them (I'm refering to a private work based
network) , and is supposed to be used for company purposes... BUT... I do
believe that when a user is hired, that they should be made aware that
"random" checks are made, and that anything deemed "trouble" by the company
will be provided to the HR department (or the boss in general) for what ever
action they see fit. This way it doesn't make the IT department look like
they are snooping, and doesn't point the blame on them for submitting the
info to HR - because then it is part of their job.
