>So, who makes good mail software?
We are strongly considering MailMax from SmartMax.com. COMPLETELY database
driven.
The features are great. I did a vast search of USENET and it appears good.
The user base is small and there is no email list though.
I'm starting an extended 60 day evaluation (we're buying a license from
another user, not directly from SmartMax) on Monday. If it can stand up to
my testing then I will buy it and start my own email list. Want to join my
list? Just let me know and I'll add you with a single line of ASP code -
lists are db driven too...
I explained the license renewal to management and their response was "Wait,
tell me again. WHAT are we paying this for???". They said in no uncertain
terms, we WILL NOT renew with IPSwitch. We will either use 7 with no support
(ha!) or switch to MailMax.

Good god, so basically they're just charging for bug fixes. Lovely.
So, who makes good mail software?

I'm not sure --

I believe that the command line programs still must be run at the IMail
server (although with Windows 2000, you could use terminal services to
run
them remotely).

I hadn't heard anything wrong with ETRN previously. But, we don't use
ETRN
and haven't tested it with 7.0.

That's simply called "POP3 before SMTP", and I am not aware of that
being
added.

Web admin, as far as I know, is handled in the same way (although there
have been some enhancements to it, such as system stats and user stats,
which is kind of cool).
