Lots of things are beyond me, this is one of them:
We host our IMAIL server at an ISP. They tell me that for better routing
purposes, they want outgoing e-mail from us (we send a weekly html
newsletter to about 150K folks, a gig of mail in as short a time as
possible) to be "from" smtp.igve.theirdomain.com. So far, so good, made the
changes to imail. Sent tests to aol and myself, and all works fine. But,
I'm worried about spam filters -- see the following.
smtp.igve.theirdomain.com isn't my mail server, it's a different IP. My
box's IP is yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy. smtp.igve.theirdomain.com resolves to
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
e-mail headers have the form:
Received: from smtp.igve.theirdomain.com [yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy] by mydomain.com
with ESMTP
(SMTPD32-6.06) id A265D73004A; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 15:56:05 -0500
Received: from mybox.mydomain.com [yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy] by
smtp.igve.theirdomain.com with ...
Don't some / many spam filters (or just plain servers) kick out e-mail if
the reverse dns doesn't resolve to the sending ip? Or am I all wet (again?)
