The best answer to how long is complex. We send from a server that is not
our standard mail server (bounces go to our standard mail server) - so no
"inteference" with regular mail. Same box also runs current version cold
fusion in production.
The 150K is actually 120K of html, and 30K aol / text. Each html is about
25K. We do 3 html a second - so about 11K an hour. Faster than that and we
begin to negatively affect available bandwidth (3 Ts, but shared by others)
so we throttle mail creation. We could go faster (how much don't know).
Each one is completely personalized. We use gammadyne mailer to produce
(which might be the ultimate gating factor) running on the same box.
Gammadyne and imail aren't loafing, but they're not maxed out. Box is dual
500 mhz pIII (I think) without gobs of memory. We've upped the threads on
imail to something like 80 or 100.
