This is definitely, 100% *not true*.

F-Prot works with Declude exactly the same way as McAfee and other 
scanners.  There is no need for the scanner to run as a service (in fact, 
none of the command line scanners can run as a service, as far as I know).

The only reason that a virus scanner would need to run as a service with 
Declude is if you are running a poorly designed scanned, such as Norton, 
that can't run properly in an automated environment.  In that case, you 
would have to rely on their on-access scanner, which would need to be 
started automatically (as a service or otherwise).  But with most scanners, 
this isn't an issue (Norton is the only one I'm aware of that has this 
problem).
