I just purchased IMail Server 7.03 (and have applied the latest hotfix) for
my Windows 2000 server. Since installing it, I am unable to send email to
external domains. Tech support says that my logs show that when I send
mail, it is checking A records instead of MX records.

After a long talk with Ipswitch tech support this morning, we found that if
I used a test DNS server from Ipswitch in my IMail
Admin SMTP settings, then I could send email just fine.

But if I used my ISPs DNS (64.224.20.132) or the one from freeservers.com
(who has my web sites own DNS records at 208.85.127.194) in my SMTP
settings, then I can't send mail to most domains. A few, such as email to
hp.com and earthlink.net do go through for some reason.

My ISP and freeservers.com say that their DNS servers are working properly.

Does anyone know of a reason why this situation could happen or how to fix
it?

I think my DNS records are set correctly.

Thanks.
