Does it matter which DNS IP address you use in your SMTP settings? Does it
have to be the same one that has your MX record, etc?

Interland is my web host, but I use the DNS at freeservers.com through a
co-marketing deal with about.com so that I can set up free websites for my
visitors. I submitted the MX and A records to freeservers.com and they look
like this:

My rep wrote to me 'This is what we have in our servers for your domain':

keepkidshealthy.com

keepkidshealthy.com IN A 64.226.244.120

keepkidshealthy.com IN MX 5 imail.keepkidshealthy.com.

www.keepkidshealthy.com IN CNAME keepkidshealthy.com.

imail.keepkidshealthy.com IN A 64.226.244.120

They said that they couldn't enter a PTR record and that whoever owned the
IP addresses (Interland) had to do it, so I had Interland enter the PTR
record. Does that matter?

Ipswitch gave me another test DNS server to put in my SMTP settings, and I
was able to send mail fine with this one too. They also gave me one from
swbell.net and if I used that one, I could send email to my own email
address at swbell.net, but not to any other domains.

Does this look right? If something is wrong with my DNS settings or
something on my server, then I don't understand why things work if I use
ipswith's test DNS IP addresses....

I appreciate everyones help as I have no idea what to do from here and I am
getting very frustrated.

Thanks.

Vince
