Sandy,
can you tell me what you mean?

>You don't want to do this unless
(a) you copy the index files as well

What's index file? Any user related information written?

(b) your backup sofware doesn't lock the copying files for
>writing, i.e. is a true open file backup,

Service can be stopped and started by command.

(c) your client realizes
>that they can still lose up to one backup-frequency's worth of
>messages and

??
(d) you can ensure that any user add/change/delete
>operations, including forwards and rules, are propagated to both
>servers

By copying registry keys under Ipswitch\IMail\Domains\host.domain.com\Users
at least once a day, user information will be same on both server.

All users connect to the primary server and no mail will be delivered to the
secondary. If something happen to the pri., users change IMAP/SMTP address
to the sec. and access mails.
I know it's not greatest idea, but meeting customer requirement with min.
money is necessary.
No additional hardware/software can be purchased at this time^^;
So is this technically possible?

If all of these requirements are met, you will be fine. How to meet
requirement (d) is up to you. Sandy

In our quest for the perfect IMail, Craig's got us all very excited...so we
do listen to your very detailed advice Sandy, but you're not as much fun
: ). Craig, keep us dreamin, but I believe folks will loose some, perhaps
lots of data especially if (d) is not met, no?

James
