It's rumored that AOL will silently delete mail from mail servers without a
reverse DNS entry, so now may be the time. :)

You can keep the forward DNS the same, so customers won't have to change
their mail settings. You just need to add a PTR record for the IP address
of the mail server, so that it returns "mail.arriba1.net" (or whatever the
actual host name of the server is).

Well, that's the IP address that IMail is using to send the
mail. Otherwise, those servers won't look up on it. I've never heard of
any type of mail server or other program that will receive a connection
from one IP, and do a reverse DNS lookup on another.

>I don't see how i could set up reverse records for each mail domain when

You don't have to. You just need to make sure that each IP address that
can be used for outgoing mail has one reverse DNS entry. It should be the
host name of the mail server, and does not need to match the domain of
outgoing mail. So you can host lots of domains on one IP, and have just
one reverse DNS entry.

There's no need to do that.

>Oh, and also change their dns record mx records to reflect mail.arriba1.net.

That isn't necessary either.

Just one simple PTR record for each IP address you'll be sending mail from
is all you need.
