Tom,
Do *not* quote me on this (ha-ha, public forum!), but if the user does
not use Web Messaging, maybe you could do something with NTFS
permissions to stop Imail from creating files once the main.mbx,
main.uid, and lastlog.in exist. Use great caution in testing, but
maybe. In my very cursory test, I was able to stop the mailbox from
being created and got a nicely verbose error ("could not append/read
to file") in the Imail logs, but it did not gen a PM message to the
original sender, and the mail was requeued. I don't know when, or if,
it would fail completely, as it didn't seem to increment the "Tries"
value in the Q file. Hmm.
Is the person getting a lot of spam or somethin'? If so, maybe some
anti-spam measures would be a substitute. Many people like the
auto-create-mailbox feature (I do), but, like defaulting to open relay
mode, it's another thing that a user should be allowed to customize on
first install, and Web Messaging should be able to work with other
delimiters. That way, you could choose a less guessable character when
you first install and still use the feature.
Another one for the wish list,
Sandy
