Gene, I mean that you said you have set your Imail server to require SMTP Auth but maybe you didn't go to your EMail client and tell it to SMTP Auth so that could be why you got that error message back.
If you run Outlook, go to Tools/Accounts... select yours... Properties... Servers Tab, then check My Server Requires Authentication... (for example). Not sure how to set that in Netscape, but there is probably a way. ??? If I don't have that checked, I get that same error message back from my server when it's set to No Relay.
